What's PoS

PoS - Proceedings of Science

PoS provides a versatile tool tailored to conference publishing requirements. Publishing proceedings in PoS is very affordable and access by the readership is open without registration or charge. PoS is run by the scientific community for the scientific community. In addition, the online publication process is fast thanks to the efficient software system which runs the entire editorial procedure. Conference organisers are thus provided with a very convenient, web-based tool for running the publication of their proceedings or lecture notes.

Online publication in PoS offers many advantages:

  • Gold open access publication under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
  • Copyright remains with the authors.
  • Fast pre-publication of contributions, in accordance with the chairperson’s request, to make accepted contributions available to readers before publication.
  • Low-cost processing of contributions in a not for profit spirit, resulting in no charges for readers or authors and affordable publication fees for organizers.
  • Registration of DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) for each contribution. DOIs help readers and indexing services identify contributions unambiguously, make it easier for readers to find contributions they are looking for and help to ensure correct citations.
  • Implementation of the OAI-PMH, a protocol for metadata harvesting and dissemination (see here for details).
  • Indexing of published contributions by the main indexing services, among which ADS-NASA and INSPIRE.

PoS is run by SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies based in Trieste, making the most of its longstanding experience in the field of online publishing, creating and running electronic journals like JHEP, JCAP, JSTAT, JINST, JCOM and JCOM América Latina.

PoS is an evolution of the former JHEP proceedings section (PrHEP). PoS encompasses all fundamental and applied sciences, among which Physical Sciences, Astrophysics, Mathematical Sciences, Statistical Science and Instrumentation are the most frequently covered.

All proceedings publication proposals are subject to the assessment of the PoS executive editorial committee to ensure that only top quality conferences of interest to the scientific community are published in our repository. Peer reviewing of the proceedings and lecture notes, is entirely to be carried out by the conference editors under their scientific responsibility. To report any concerns relating to potential misconduct, conflict of interest or other complaints please contact the editorial office.
