The TOROS project and the optical follow-up of gravitational wave events

Abstract
In this short paper we describe the TOROS collaboration, its participation in the electromagnetic follow-up efforts of the LIGO VIRGO O1 and O2 observational campaigns and some its main characteristics and goals. We discuss TOROS plans for the projected O3 campaign as well.
