Abstract
We present the status of the MUonE experiment which aims
at determining the leading order hadronic contribution to the muon g-2 by measuring the hadronic part of the photon vacuum polarization in the space-like region. The
experimental challenges posed by this measurement, the proposed solution and the status of this proposal will be discussed.
