Spin equilibrium of transiently accreting millisecond pulsars

Abstract
In this short and focussed article, we briefly discuss a recently reported new concept of spin equilibrium condition due to disc--magnetosphere interaction and a new expression for the spin equilibrium frequency of transiently accreting millisecond pulsars. We also mention that a recently found method to estimate the spin equilibrium frequency for an observed transiently accreting millisecond pulsar, even when the pulsar has not attained the spin equilibrium, will be a key way to answer the question: what limits the spin rates of millisecond pulsars: disc--magnetosphere interaction or gravitational waves?
