Abstract
Recently, there have been significant progresses for theories of quarkonium production in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions at colliders. We give a brief review of these theories, with emphasis on the successes and difficulties of nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism, as well as the new proposal of soft gluon factorization.
