Recent charm meson spectroscopy results from amplitude analysis of $B$ decays to open charm states at LHCb are reported. The amplitude analyses technique is used in the description of $~{B^{-} \to D^{*+} \pi^{-} \pi^{-}}$ decays and a study of the excited charm meson spectra in the $D^{*+} \pi^{-}$ system is performed.
