Rare decays of 𝐵𝑐 mesons

Abstract
$B_c$ meson is one of the ideal and quite interesting meson having both the heavy quarks with different flavor and the mass below $B\bar{D}$ threshold. Sometimes it is also considered to be in the heavy quarkonia sector. However, unlike charmonia and bottomonia, $B_c$ meson can decay through the weak interactions only. This can also be inferred from the life time of $B_c$ mesons and therefore it has also served as one of the ideal candidate for the search of new physics beyond the standard model.
Here, we present our preliminary results on the rare decays of $B_c$ mesons within the effective field theoretical approach of covariant confined quark model. We study the channels corresponding to the transition $b \to d \ell^+ \ell^-$.
We compute the transition form factors in the entire range of momentum transfer and then utilize them to determine various observables including branching fractions.
Due to unavailability of experimental and lattice results as of now, we compare our findings with the other quark models and QCD sum rule approaches.
