Abstract
This discussion will cover the basics of polarized ion sources. State-of-the-art polarized proton, H-, D+, and He3 ion sources will be presented. The feasibility of new techniques is currently being investigated at BNL and other laboratories. Polarized deuteron beams will be required for the polarization program at the Dubna NICA collider and for the deuteron Electric Dipole Moment experiment. Experiments with polarized 3He2+ ion beams are part of the experimental program at the future Electron Ion Collider
