Abstract
Antideuterons offer a unique opportunity for fundamental physics studies. Here the possibility to produce cold antideuteronss at the AD/ELENA facility, where low-energy antiproton beams are routinely produced, is summarized. The knowledge in antideuteron production from fixed target experiments is reviewed, the expected yield from the current target and improvements needed in Monte Carlo simulations for target design and injection in the machine. Highlight is given to the importance of using low-Z materials for higher production rates and an outline of the potential uses of antideuterons for new experimental schemes is given.
