In these proceedings, we review progress on an effort to compute QCD corrections to Higgs boson pair production
at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD. We use an expansion around the ``$t\to 0$'', or ``forward-scattering''
limit, to make the computation tractable, producing results which are valid in the smaller transverse momentum
region; this region is the most relevant, phenomenologically.
The results of this work will determine the size of the NNLO corrections beyond estimates based on the large-$m_t$
expansion, and enable studies of the uncertainties induced by the renormalization scheme and scale of the
top quark mass, which are the dominant uncertainties at next-to-leading order (NLO).
