Status and perspectives of heavy and light spectroscopy at BESIII

Abstract
Using the world's largest samples of $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ decays, as well as $e^+e^-$ annihilations data, the BESIII experiment provides a unique laboratory to investigate both light and heavy hadron spectroscopy.
In particular, radiative and hadronic charmonium decays offer an ideal environment to search for and study exotic hadrons, including multiquark states, hybrid mesons, and glueball candidates, as well as to explore conventional meson and baryon spectroscopy.
We present a selection of recent results covering light hadron spectroscopy, including several partial wave analyses and studies of strangeonium and axial-vector states. On the heavy spectroscopy side, recent studies of charmonium(-like) states will be discussed.
Finally, the current status and future perspectives will be outlined.
