Open charm physics with Heavy Ions: experimental results

Abstract
This contribution gives an overview of current experimental results on open charm production in high-energy collisions of atomic nuclei, presented at the 8$^{\rm th}$ edition of the International Workshop On Charm Physics.
Open charm was studied in elementary proton-proton interactions as well as in proton-lead and lead-lead collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
