Abstract
The large amount of data accumulated by the CMS experiment during the Run 2 of LHC offers robust probes for testing the Standard Model and potentially reaching beyond it.
In this report the new CMS measurements of prompt D∗+, D+ and D0 production cross sections at 13 TeV are presented, together with novel studies of the production of excited Bc states carried out with full Run 2 data.
