Abstract
The diffusion equation for the excess-path-length distribution of cascade-shower particles due to the multiple Coulomb scattering is proposed and solved under the conditions of neglecting and including the ionization loss. The excess-path-length distribution of shower electrons due to the single Rutherford scattering is also evaluated. We indicate the derived distributions of shower electrons and discuss the characteristic properties of the distributions.
