I describe a novel mechanism where the variation of an $\omega_0$ condensate can generate a ``spike'' in the speed of sound in hadronic matter. An $\omega_0$ condensate naturally increases the speed of sound; the real problem is how to get the speed of sound to decrease. I suggest this can happen through the appearance of a Quantum Pion Liquid.
